My Approach to PSB
Problematic or Out-of-Control Sexual Behaviors (PSB/OCSB) aren't defined by how often you have sex or the types of sexual activities you enjoy. Rather, the concern lies in how these behaviors may impact your emotional well-being, relationships, and daily life. You may find yourself using sex to cope with difficult emotions, struggling to change patterns despite unwanted consequences, or experiencing shame and distress surrounding your sexuality. Unlike the concept of "sex addiction," which is not a recognized diagnosis in the DSM-5, a PSB/OCSB framework focuses on your individual experiences and the emotional, relational, and sometimes trauma-related factors that may contribute to these patterns.
I approach problematic sexual behaviors (PSB) through a sex-positive, nonjudgmental, and behavioral framework rather than an addiction model. My work emphasizes curiosity and self-understanding rather than shame or labels. Together, we take an exploratory approach to understanding your sexual experiences, identifying what sexual health means to you, and defining goals for your behaviors that align with your personal values, relationships, and overall well-being.
I believe there is no one-size-fits-all definition of a healthy sex life. My goal is to help you develop develop a healthy relationship with your sexuality, sexual health, and sexual behaviors through exploration, awareness, and skills-based interventions.
