More About DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, is one of my favorite approaches to use in therapy, especially for people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or stuck in patterns that are no longer working. It is a structured, skills-based therapy that helps you learn how to cope with distress, regulate emotions, and improve your relationships. DBT combines mindfulness with practical tools you can actually use in real life. I love it because it is not just about talking through things, it is about building skills you can use for the rest of your life.
For clients participating in DBT, I also offer phone coaching between sessions to provide support when you are actively working to use your skills in real-life situations. Phone coaching is designed to help you apply DBT skills in the moment, navigate challenging situations, and strengthen your ability to manage difficulties independently. The goal isn't to have someone solve the problem for you, but to help you practice using the skills until they become skills you can rely on yourself.
